To buy USDT with fiat on Binance, you first need to link a payment method. Bank cards, Alipay, and WeChat are all supported, but many newcomers cannot find the linking page or run into issues during setup. This tutorial clears everything up. Open the Binance official website or the official Binance app and follow along. iPhone users should install the app first — see the iOS installation guide.

Where to Find Payment Method Settings

In the Binance app, the payment method settings are not located in "Settings" — they are in the C2C trading section:

Path 1: App > Trade > C2C > Tap "..." or settings icon in top right > P2P Payment Methods > Add Payment Method

Path 2: App > Profile > Payment Methods > Add New Payment Method

Web version: Log in > Click avatar > Payment Methods > Add

Linking a Bank Card

Tap "Add Payment Method" and select "Bank Transfer":

Required information:

  • Name: Must be the same name from your Binance KYC verification (cannot be changed)
  • Bank name: Select your card's issuing bank
  • Card number: Enter your bank card number
  • Branch name (optional): Enter your branch name

Bank card selection tips:

  • Use a dedicated card for C2C trading — not your salary or daily spending card
  • Cards from major banks tend to have lower freeze rates
  • Do not keep excess funds in the card — only deposit what you need for trading
  • If the card is newly opened, use it normally for a while before C2C trading

Linking Alipay and WeChat

Select "Alipay" or "WeChat":

Alipay setup:

  • Enter your Alipay account (phone number or email)
  • Your name auto-populates (matching Binance KYC)
  • Consider uploading a QR code for receiving payments (useful if you plan to sell crypto)

WeChat setup:

  • Enter your WeChat ID
  • Name auto-populates
  • Consider uploading a receiving QR code

Important Notes

Name must match: This is the most important point. The bank card, Alipay, or WeChat you link must be registered under the same name as your Binance KYC. If they do not match, merchants will refuse to release coins.

You can link multiple methods: Having multiple bank cards and payment apps linked gives you more flexibility when choosing merchants, since different merchants accept different payment methods.

Methods can be modified or removed anytime: Go to the payment method management page to edit or delete linked accounts.

No automatic charges: Linking a payment method simply tells merchants which payment options you have. It does not authorize automatic deductions like a credit card subscription. Every transaction requires manual payment.

Buying Crypto After Linking

Once your payment methods are set up, head to C2C trading to buy crypto:

  1. Go to the C2C buy page
  2. Select to buy USDT
  3. Enter the amount
  4. The system automatically filters merchants that accept your linked payment methods
  5. Choose a merchant and place your order
  6. Pay using the merchant's provided details
  7. After payment, tap "I've Paid"
  8. Wait for the merchant to release

The first time takes 5-10 minutes. Once you are familiar, it is a 2-3 minute process.

Tip: If your bank card ever gets frozen due to C2C trading, do not panic. Contact your bank, explain the situation, and provide any requested documentation. In most cases, the freeze can be lifted. To minimize freeze risk, trade with reputable certified merchants and avoid new or low-volume sellers.
